ID #009 Decompiler - Our Love Will Climb Any Mountain

Atonal, rough, educated -
Detroit essence distilled thru years of cultivated industrial suffocation. A primal scream into the Robocop dance floor future wrought in toxic waste deconstruction. Enter the true sound of industrial techno - gritty cyberpunk fugitive, alive in the world of minimalism but rising to the infinite. A gnostic rejection of the American narrative and corporate non-sense.

Review by Marc Church:

One can always anticipate to hear some very groundbreaking and engaging music with any release on the Detroit Industrial label. From output by Delien, and Fluxion A/D on into material by redHat, Metria and Veldt, the label is carving out a unique niche for providing a diverse array of electronic sounds. It could be breakbeat, ambient, noise, acid house or any combination of genres.

The latest release slated for release slated on September 17th comes from the (somewhat) mysterious Decompiler and is titled “Our Love Will Climb Any Mountain”

Nine instrumental tracks are to be found.

Opener “A-track” starts things off with an echo-y kick drum and builds slowly in anticipation to the 2 minute mark where lush string pads come in and percolating synths bubble up. It’s a suitable opener drawing the listener in to it’s hypnotic waves that last a good 6 minutes. There’s a strong cinematic vibe going on here that’s very pleasant.

“Miserables” comes crunching in next with a bit more grind and industrial movement. At 130bpm it picks up the pace and engulfs the listener into an abyss of dense dark atmospherics with a strong rhythmic backbone. It’s one of the more upbeat tracks of the nine and one that could work on adventurous dance floors with risk taking DJ’s.

“Darknodes” takes the listener back into slower realms with an assortment of scrapyard sounds and atmospheric noises. Incredible ominous sonic construction make the listener wonder what’s coming next and where are we headed? It’s a really doomy aesthetic that sounds more drawn from horror movie soundtracks than anything else.

“Fadering” jumps back into that dance floor groove at 125bpm. A track with a really energetic pulse to it. The drums are tight and crisp sitting nicely with deep bass “whumps” and shifting valleys of sonic accessible electronica.

“Slitt” paces along at a slow but steady 82 bpm again developing a straight no frills undercurrent that has a trance-inducing effect on the listener. It’s a drifting track but at the same time there’s some inspired and layered beat work here.

“S-60” is bit of a weird one. Almost like a “Brap” experiment of just turning on the gear and fucking around. It’s a confusing inclusion on this release.

“Gravitation” is a super impressive slice of classic Detroit inspired techno. Great beats, deep and uplifting alien-like piano work and this really futuristic flow from beginning to end. An expertly crafted chill vibe. Killer track!

“Desrazonable” returns the listener to a near-beatless dark ambient track, brooding and unsettling.

The album wraps up with “The Gears”, a 121 bpm catchy techno number with plenty of percussive momentum, dance vibes and mysterious atmospheres. A pure sonic orgasm for the ears.

Conclusion: An interesting release that should be purchased and heard by those into electronic music. Although not specified or described as such, “Our Love Will Climb Any Mountain” seems like a multi-faceted tale with part dystopian landscapes and the other a dreamland. Give this one your ears as there is a wealth of different sounds and ideas, shaping a style all its own.
